Matthew Luzum

I'm a researcher in nuclear physics at University of São Paulo currently working on relativistic heavy ion collisions and quark-gluon plasma physics. My work focuses on developing theoretical frameworks and analysis techniques to better understand the properties of hot nuclear matter created in high-energy nuclear collisions.

My research involves using hydrodynamic simulations and statistical analysis methods to study the behavior of quantum chromodynamics (QCD) at extreme temperatures and densities. I'm particularly interested in flow observables, which provide insight into the transport properties of the quark-gluon plasma. I also work on improving our understanding of the initial conditions in heavy-ion collisions and developing new ways to extract information about QCD thermodynamics from experimental data.

Recently, I've been focusing on using Bayesian inference techniques to constrain medium properties as well as the structure of the colliding nuclei. I'm part of multiple international collaborations including JETSCAPE, which develops comprehensive frameworks for simulating relativistic heavy-ion collisions.
